Compost that earns its place in your soil

Biomix compost isn’t a trend. It’s a long-term soil solution backed by independent lab testing, accredited production, and repeat results in the field. Here’s everything we stand behind.

Why compost?

Feed the soil — not just the crop.

Healthy crops rely on healthy soil. But decades of chemical use, drought, and overgrazing have left many soils stripped of structure, microbes, and water-holding capacity.

That’s where compost comes in.

Unlike synthetic fertilisers, compost is a slow-release soil conditioner. It doesn’t just add nutrients — it rebuilds the engine room of your farm: the topsoil. Think of it as a long-game strategy that:

  • Increases organic carbon

  • Improves water retention

  • Boosts microbial activity

  • Helps other inputs work better

Used alongside your fertiliser program, compost strengthens your base — so you get better uptake, better resilience, and better yields.

Why we are different

Built in Stanhope. Backed by science.

Our compost isn’t trucked in from city green waste — it’s matured and tested right here in northern Victoria, with the kind of consistency you can actually plan around.

  • Made for dryland and irrigation systems

  • Monitored temperature and moisture throughout maturation

  • Blended to suit broadacre, viticulture, and pasture systems

  • Fully matured and stable before it hits your paddock

We understand your soils — because we farm in them too.

ROI calculations

What’s your return per tonne?

We’ve built a tool to help you understand the return on compost based on your crop type, application rate, and yield goals.

Estimate how compost affects your gross margin by factoring in:

  • Application cost per hectare

  • Expected yield increase range

  • Compost rate (t/ha)

  • Average crop value per tonne

This gives you a clear picture of where compost becomes profitable — and how quickly it can pay for itself.

Compost is best described as a soil conditioner that improves the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil. While it contains some nutrients, its primary function is not to replace fertiliser, but to enhance soil structure, increase water-holding capacity, stimulate microbial activity, and contribute to long-term soil organic carbon levels.

Unlike synthetic or mineral fertilisers, which are designed to provide readily available nutrients (e.g., nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) in defined concentrations, compost releases nutrients slowly over time and in lower concentrations. It enhances nutrient use efficiency by improving the soil’s ability to retain and cycle nutrients, particularly in degraded or drought-affected soils.

In short, compost builds soil health and resilience, while fertilisers supply targeted nutrition. They work best in combination — compost for conditioning, fertilisers for correction.

Accreditations

Certified. Local. Proven.

Our compost is produced right here in Stanhope. It’s made for the conditions you farm in. We understand what dry years do to a soil profile. That’s why we focus on building structure, organic matter, and moisture retention — not just feeding plants.
